Let's do this again next weekend!
L to R: Roxanne & Mark Susinno, Bob Mason, Karryl, Joy Kroeger Beckner, Diane Mason and Wes enjoy a delicious dinner during the Society of Animal Artists opening weekend festivities.
Just another perk of being an artist
L to R: Eileen Matias, Rachelle Siegrist, James Coe, Tucker Bailey, John Pitcher and Sue Westin enjoy a museum style picnic in the Bennington Center for the Arts.
Smile Rachelle this one's for the website!

News:
* We've received more awards lately at shows. (See the awards page for highlights) More shows are being added into the schedule. We'll post the Paint America Mini exhibition as soon as we have the details.
* The Society of Animal Artists Exhibition opening weekend in Vermont was a complete joy. The Bennington Center for the Arts is a beautiful facility and with the color of the Vermont mountains in the background it was all breathtaking. It was nice finally getting to meet so many friends that we formerly knew only via email and phone!
* We are working non-stop some days for 10 hours building back up our depleted inventory for the upcoming Waterfowl Festival. Wes will do his best to get the new paintings online but several will end up being surprises due to us painting until the last minute.
Do you have all of us in the photo Dad?
We enjoyed a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway and lunch at the Pisgah Inn with Wes's parents, George and Jean Siegrist.
Just one more absolutely amazing view.

Interesting Updates:
* On the easels: Rachelle is working on a calf while Wes is about to start two Bobwhite Quail paintings. We'll have about a dozen brand new paintings at our upcoming shows and almost all our work will be new to the Waterfowl and Plantation.
So sad to see the old barns and farms disappearing.
Wes photographs an old barn near our home. Sadly they are quickly disappearing, being swallowed by development in the name of progress.
It's true Lee I can karate chop down that Bald Cypress!

Our Adventures:
* Still painting and more painting! This is a major production spurt for both of us...not sure how Wes will enjoy being stuck down in the basement for a couple days framing everything.
* Recent memory makers: Our trip to Vermont where we spent the entire time in the company of four close friends. We met so many new friends too with the 46th Annual Exhibition opening having nearly 50 artist members in attendance ~ a record! We also were entertained like spoiled royalty with the hospitality of Lee and Carol Bates during our stay with them for the Southern Wildlife Festival weekend. At the start of October we spent a full day at a Petting Zoo in Sieverville and the Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg with Wes's parents and other friends. We came back with close to 100 new potential paintings. Canasta card games with neighbors and marshmallow roasts around our backyard fire pit happen every two weeks.
Spending the day with fellow artists sightseeing in Vermont.

Aye Matey! Prepare to be boarded!
Rachelle and Wes's Dad, George, join the pirate crew at the Ripley's Aquarium. Obviously Rachelle and her bunny ears would not have lasted long with her crewmates!
Critter Encounters:
Two very happy kids! * Yard Bird List: 93 species with us adding an Orange-crowned Warbler that sat just outside our front windows one morning.
* Our chipmunks learned this month how to get into both squirrel feeders where they hit a bonanza of sunflower seeds. It's so cute watching them try to out manuever the squirrels. We've also spotted several baby snakes in the yard.
