Rachelle's excited - they had chocolate cake!
The NatureWorks show committee treated us to an extra special buffet lunch this year during our Friday show set-up. We joined Kim and Elwin Shaklee to enjoy it all.

News Highlights:
* Read our feature article in Wildlife Art Magazine MAR/APRIL 2008 - PDF @1.6MB)
* Shows: We're delighted to say that both of our paintings were juried into the Endangered Species Exhibition at the Wildling Museum in California.
There's always plenty of laughs at our table.
Our Saturday night NatureWorks dinner was a grand time! (LtoR) Wes, Linda Besse, Leslie Kirchner, Susan Labouri, Melanie Fain, Daniel Labouri and Rachelle.
Guess these laughs are going to last all night!
After dinner a bunch of us sat around and shared more stories and laughs (LtoR) Susan Labouri, Melanie Fain, Daniel Labouri, Lyn St. Clair, Rachelle, Jan Martin McGuire and Garth Swift.

Interesting Updates:
* Wes recently received a package from friends in Australia that contained a book and a year's worth of reading on the topic of miniature art in Australia. We still wish we had been able to attend the 4th World Exhibition of Miniature Art in Tasmania this month.
* Both of us are keeping busy figuring out which paintings to send to all the various miniature shows. We're really looking forward to going out to southern California in May for the Fallbrook show.
* On the easels: Rachelle is working on an Egret and Wes is painting some turtles.
Where did all the patrons go?
Wes with Missy and Ed Takacs at SEWE 08. We exhibited with Ed many years ago at the Silver Springs Wildlife Art show in Ocala, FL. It was fun trying to recall everything from the early days!
Can anyone remember if we've ordered already?
Another fun party at T-Bonz in Charleston after the show. (LtoR) Kristen Caldwell, Ann & Stephen Left, Roxanne and Martin Gates, Patricia Pepin and Pierre, Rachelle, John and Suzie Seerey-Lester.
Bob says Howdy!
Wes and Dr. Bob Beard enjoy a fantastic meal at Grill 225 in Charleston, SC. The desserts were the hit of the night.
Our first Indian dance
We joined a couple dozen other people in a Cherokee Indian friendship dance as part of the Townsend Winter Heritage Festival.
Our Recent Memory Makers:
• We really enjoyed the program at the Townsend Events Center which featured the local astronomy club, Mike Clemmer on dulcimer and lessons on American Indian culture from Bo Taylor, a local Cherokee.
•Tons of fun with our peers and collectors at the shows in Charleston and Tulsa. We spent an extra day in Charleston taking in the Gibbes Museum (especially the miniatures!) and also the SC Aquarium.
I want to take this piano home!
Rachelle again kept up her annual tradition of playing the grand piano for the scupltors and carvers during the SEWE show in Charleston.
Rachelle loves the snow!
Rachelle built a snow turtle after our first measurable snowfall here in Townsend. Pictured is a Carolina Wren eating mealworms off the turtle's back.
Critter Encounters:
* Yard Bird List: 95. Wes spotted our first Merlin in the wild during our drive out to Tulsa, OK. The spring flowers are starting to come up and bloom so we're eagerly anticpating getting back to our gardening. We even spotted a few fence lizards braving the winter temps to soak up some sun on our front deck.
