We like to consider the Park our extended backyard.
Wes poses on the trail to White Oak Sinks in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This particular trailhead is very close to our house so we often take guests there to hike - especially in the spring with the wildflowers in bloom.

News Highlights:
* We're continuing to be juried into more shows and are updating the schedule accordingly. Please keep checking back if you are interested in attending one of our shows. We do plan to attend the Artistic Designs Gallery Miniature Show opening this month in Indiana on the 5th and we will also be in attendance at The GALLERY in Huntsville, AL for our show opening in July.
Yes, poop fascinates us too when it's full of insects!
As naturalists were fascinated by all aspects of the natural world. Here we are with a fellow hiker watching dung beetles in a pile of bear scat.
To each his own!

Interesting Updates:
* On the easels: Wes is currently working on another sailboat miniature while Rachelle is working on a portrait to potentially send to a museum exhibition this fall. We're both working on our long list of commissions too!
Our Recent Memory Makers:
•Wes's parents spent a week with us in April and we went on a couple of hikes, took in the Festival of Nations at Dollywood and enjoyed meals on our porches.
•The garden is growing well but we still have alot of planting to do before we can sit back and eagerly anticipate the first mater!

Always a treat to have unique visitors to the feeders

We can put another hummingbird with this nice background
Wes photographs some blooming Columbine alongside the trail. Rachelle painted a Ruby-throat Hummingbird last year with one of the Columbine blooms she had photographed on this same trail...guess it will be Wes's turn now!
Critter Encounters:
* Yard Bird List: 93.
* Wow...we've had Indigo Buntings, Red-Crossbills and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks regularly visiting the feeders this past month. Almost every nest box in the yard is occupied and baby rabbits are also running aroung the yard. The chipmunks have also been regular entertainers on the deck and in the yard.
