Is everybody smiling?
Wes's parents, George and Jean, and his brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Karen, joined us on the trip up to Brownsburg, IN to attend the Artistic Design's opening. We went out to eat afterwards with fellow artist, Luke Buck, his wife Coleen and Joe and Deb Ashby, the gallery owners.
A very proud Grandma!
(L to R) Wes's family: Brother Greg holding nephew Will, Wes with his Nana, and brother Tony during our recent trip to Indiana.

News Highlights:
* Unfortunately our upcoming show at The GALLERY in Huntsville, AL has had to be cancelled. We have added new shows into our schedule and plan to add more this month.
* Rachelle's "The Pigeon Hole" has been juried into the annual Birds in Art Exhibition so we'll be attending the show in September. We'll also be flying out to Jackson Hole, WY that same week for the Western Visions Miniatures & More Show at the National Museum of Wildlife Art. In addition we plan to fly to Colorado in October to attend the SAA opening at The Wildlife Experience.
* New awards and content has been added to the awards and resumes pages on the website and we'll be adding new work weekly. We will be entertaining Rachelle's family the first week of this month.
Smile ladies...you're going on to our website this month!
Rachelle poses with some of our friends and neighbors on our screen porch during one of our firepit parties.
I saw him first and petted him most so I get to paint him!
A rare photo showing both of us taking pictures in the Petting Zoo...even Rachelle stopped petting long enough to take a shot or two! (photo courtesy of Wes's Dad, George, who has also provided us with some additional painting reference).

Interesting Updates:
* On the easels: Wes is currently working on a miniature painting of White Oak Sinks while Rachelle is working on commission portraits. She also recently completed a drawing of a Raven that she'll be donating for auction to the National Museum of Wildlife Art. (see below)
Our Recent Memory Makers:
•We drove up to Indiana the first week of May to attend the opening of the Artistic Design's Miniature Show and to visit with Wes's family. Obviously we also took in the Louisville Zoo while there and found plenty of great critters to compose future miniature paintings. The baby elephant alone will have us arm wrestling over who gets to paint what for most of the summer!
•East Tennessee is in a terrible drought that is making it hard to keep everything growing in the garden. The smoke from the wildfires inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has also been making our view out the studio windows hazy.
•We're still riding the bikes almost daily, playing cards with our neighbors and taking in the concerts at the Heritage Museum on the weekends. We did take a week "off" to remodel our two upstairs bathrooms and finish a few other house projects. New photos have been added to the house and studio pages. (see Sitemap)
One of Rachelle's favorite spots!
Rachelle and Spikey in their favorite swing on our top porch. The native Wisteria is blooming behind them.
Wes's watercolor palette
Wes's watercolor palette while painting is comprised of larger pools of color that often run together.
Rachelle's watercolor palette
Rachelle's palette, by contrast, is filled with small spots of color. Although our finished paintings look almost indistinguishable it's easy to see via our palettes that we don't paint alike.
One of Rachelle's recent drawings
Rachelle's drawing of a Raven.
Critter Encounters:
* Yard Bird List: 93.
* Our baby rabbit is growing quickly on our abundant supply of wildflowers. He even came up to Wes while he was watering to eat some of the wet leaves! The drought has helped the birdwatching at the birdbaths. A male Northen Parula warbler visited our top fountain just this week. We eat our lunch on our bottom screen porch that provides a good view of the birdbath up under the trees and it's a regular airport with all the visitors.
