Wes with our friends Lee and Carol Bates and Robert and Robbie Stephenson take a break from salamander hunting in the Treemont area of the Smokies. We met with great success finding several and catching one for closer observation. Carol was the big winner finding an aggressive "Anaconda" under her rock! |
Rachelle and the gang enjoy a nice picnic beside the stream in Treemont. It was 95 in Townsend that afternoon but in the low 80's just 15 minutes away in the Park! The record high in Townsend was set at over 100 degrees but by contrast the record on Mt. LeConte inside the Park was 78...we always have a cool place to retreat to if we need to do so and we're planting more trees in our yard all the time. |

News: * We had four paintings juried into the 2006 Kentucky National Wildlife Art Show and three works selected for the Grant's Pass Museum Wildlife Art Exhibition. Other shows are pending and being added to the schedule. (See the awards and exhibits pages for more details) * We've also been confirmed and invited back to all of our regular shows and exhibits. The 2006-2007 season will be our busiest yet. * The Rainforest Exhibition and the Canine Exhibition have both been extended due to demand for the show by new museum venues. Thank you to the extremely patient collectors who have purchased some of these paintings that will not be available for display in their homes until 2009! * Thank you for your recent feedback and purchases! |

Our nephew and neice, Will and Caroline, try to agree on the structural design for Caroline's Cinderella castle. |
Will poses beside his project of the Giza plateau. Wes was promised by his engineering nephew that the photograph of this monumental project would earn him a fortune. Thank goodness for digital photgraphy since each stage of the production had to be captured. |

Interesting Updates: * On the easels: We're both currently working on floral paintings for consideration in a new international competition. We'll also be working over the next month on works for our regular exhibitions and trying to build up our inventory for the fall "in person" shows. |

Our Adventures: * We regret to say that we lost Rachelle's Granny this past month. She struggled with life for almost a year after her devastating stroke. Rachelle received her childhood inspiration for art from her granny. * Recent memory makers: We celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary eating out at our favorite Thai restaurant and taking in the "Pirates of the Carribean" movie. New images have also been added of our home as July 11th marked 5 years in Tennessee for us (see sitemap). We had a wonderful time visiting with the Bates and Stephensons during their stay with us and enjoyed our week in Indiana spent with Wes's family. Fellow wildlife artist, Vicki Ferguson, and her husband Donny, hiked to Abrams Falls with us and Vicki fascinated us with photos from her recent trip to Nepal. A final highlight was the week we spent painting in our basement with several local artist friends. We plan to do it again late this month. |

Critter Encounters:
* Yard Bird List: 91 species with us adding Purple Martins. * Our rabbits, squirrels and raccoons are enjoying our apple tree currently more than we can. One baby bunny roughly the size of a fist practically lives under the tree and how funny to watch the squirrels trying to run while holding an apple in their mouth! |
