Do we have to listen to that banjo music again?
Our 2007 painting workshop with friends in our basement was a fun and productive time for all!

News Highlights:
* New shows and Venues: We've added some new shows into our schedule. We're delighted that Rachelle was juried into the 2007 American Women Artists Exhibition that will take place at the LeKAE Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ in December. The jury selected 101 works from 71 artists from a pool of 1200 from over 300 artists! All five of Rachelle's miniatures were selected for inclusion. We hope to attend the opening festivites.
* Wes received the Award of Excellence on his "Cactus Camouflage" at the 24th Annual Juried Show New Mexico Miniature Arts Society Exhibition last month.
* We'll be flying out to the openings of Birds in Art in Wisconsin and the Western Visions Miniatures & More Show in Wyoming this month to officially start our 2007-08 show season. We look forward to spending time with everyone again!
Hurry up with the picture so we can eat the cake and ice cream.

Interesting Updates:
* Our resume's page was recently updated again with additional information pertaining to our past miniature shows.
* Wes has been working on a miniature history project as a hobby. The page represents all the miniature art societies and organizations that have played a role in the current revival period - Read about the recent history of our art form.
* On the easels: Wes is currently working on miniatures for the Waterfowl Festival. Rachelle is painting a series of square inch chickens for the "Birds of America" show this fall.
Spike doesn't really pull his weight around the house with the chores.

Don't forget to chew Rachelle!
We stopped by Marshall's house in Cashiers, NC to stock up on our sourwood honey supply and Rachelle took advantage of the opportunity to strip his garden bare of red raspberries.
Watch out Rachelle he's coming for your salmon!

Our Recent Memory Makers:
•The week of painting together with our friends was a great delight. We so cherish the fellowship, fun and discussions about art with our peers. Wes made pancakes for the group for breakfast most of the mornings and we all enjoyed the lunches together on our screen porch. We ended the week with a big pizza party in the basement which included several more friends.
•We spent a few days with friends over in Cashiers and Brevard, NC. It's been a very busy and productive summer season so it was nice to actually take a vacation and do nothing but relax, laugh and eat some great meals. Thanks so much Don, Tommy and Peggy! Rachelle especially loved feeding Don's white squirrels (www.whitesquirrelart.com) and we never thought we'd get her away from the cool mountain lake in Cashiers!
•The terrible heat cut out all our hikes this past month and many of our bike rides. We're so happy that September has finally arrived! The neighborhood canasta card games are still a highlight for us as well as the weekly dine-outs with friends.
What do you mean that's the wrong green?
A rare moment when Spike decides to help Wes paint.
Somebody looks very sleepy and it isn't Rachelle!
Spike's normal seat in the studio is Rachelle's shoulder. Here they're working on one of Rachelle's submissions for the MPSGS Exhibition.
Critter Encounters:
* Yard Bird List: 93.
* The worst heat spell on record combined with a record drought has made the summer tough for us and the critters. Thankfully some rain fell at last so we're hoping to see more of our animal family in the yard.
